Growing Deglet Noor Seeds in North Carolina, USA

Deglet Noor is a well known date palm cultivar. It originated from Algeria. It was introduced to the USA early in the 20th century. Well the date palm succeeded to grow in the desert of Coachella Valley in California and some other places like in Texas and Arizona. I am living right now in North Carolina between the the zones of 7 and 8. Well it could survive in zone 8. I personally searched here in North Carolina to find Deglet noor, but unfortunately i did not find. So I got the idea to grow it here myself.

I began this experiment in August 2009. I just bought some Algerian dates and took off their pitts ( seeds). Then I soaked them for two days. After that i placed them in a plastic box with some paper towels. Then they grew and had some roots. Then I placed them into some container with some garden soil. All the containers are inside my house since now it is winter.
Well hope they grow and become trees.

I am always surprised by nature and its beauty.I think that the love of nature is hidden in our souls and bodies. Looking at the blue of sea or ocean gives us calmness and peace. Being inside water , feeling its fresh presence , is something extraordinary. There is always balance in nature. Whereas in summer we suffer from the heat of the sun , we find a fresh water that gives harmony to nature. Also, people come there where the water is, whether it is for fun or just because of boredom or just to escape the city or the town noise.

The green is magic. The more you look at it, the more you get this sensation of happiness and life. That is why people like to be near the green. So trees, flowers, grass are always there in our neighborhood. The presense of water is life itself. People are more happy near the green and water than in any other place. So I hope that all of us preserve this nature that makes us happy and peaceful.

Une charmante, brunette, jolie jeune femme, avec un coeur aussi sensible, a ete delaisser par son futur ami pour une autre.
Elle a cru que c'etais lui le futur amour et mari, mais elle a ete boulerverse quand il termina sa relation avec elle avec un sang froid comme s'il n ai rien passe. En reaction, elle a ecris cette simple emouvante poeme pour exprimer ses sentiments et son chagrin aussi douleureuse envers lui.

Sex Education

Sex education begins early in my town. Before Islam, arabs some of the Arabs killed their daughters. The reason was that they thought that because wemen are weak naturally so they are targeted by thieves and in times of wars. When Islam came, it forbade this practice and gave the owmen the right to live as the men.

Even now, some arabs don't like girls alot. They favour boys. They think that boys can help later their parents financially. Now with education and with literacy and the knowledge of Islam teachings. Parents are better in accepting their children as equal.

Traditionally, sex education is done and perceived as for the role for the boy and the girl inside the house. The girl is always given duties inside the house as for cleaning, cooking,washing clothes or sewing. On the contrary, the boy is following his father either to help his father especially almost of the people have date palm trees gardens. so their help in gardens are needed. boys are sent to shop and for communication between relatives and cousins.

So boys and girls have different roles in the same house. The mother gives sex education to her daughter by showing her all what is accepted socially and islamically as for example not to show of her beauty to stranger or not to date or not to do sex. So the mother has a very important role in sex education. The boys always follow the models of their father or uncles.Girls follow women and boys follow men.

Another source of education is school wnich include a subject of Islamic lessons aiming at showing islam pillars and preachings.so anyone who is adult knows what is right or wrong according to Islam principles.

Besides of all these, there is another important source which is The preachings of the Imam ( priest ) in the mosque. parents children and almost all hear all what the Imam wants to explain about sex education. So the Imam tries always to correct some common mistakes done by parents in the education of their children.

Lack of Communication within the Family

The family gives too much respect to the father since he, who decides for all. So the children get this habit not to speak directly to their father, but let the mother does the job. This has led that children fear their fathers and sometimes their mothers. This lack of communication is typical for the traditional life in my town.

The word love is absent from the verbal communication between either parents or their children. So kissing especially if from mother to father or from father to mother is something unexpected and may be forbidden by traditions. So this simple sentence "I love you" does not exist in the communication between mother and father at the presence of children or grand mothers. So sometimes it is typical from the Algerian hard life. As compared to the Egyptian society where this word love is always used and expressed without fear.

A girl that says, "I love someone!" in a traditional family is not allowed. Here I mean this kind of love between a man and woman before marriage. The people in the town perceive badly any relation beyong marriage even the word of love.

The International Man

For me as an international man, I would like to be free from all the borders and national straints. I hope that one day every one of us, man or woman, could travel from one country to another without having a passport. Europe is an example of this now. I would like easily accept identity card, because it says from where you are, but I don't like to be prisoned to a national territory where you could never travel. Every one is this world would like to travel either for education, work or marriage. So why to stop people!!!

This idea of visa, I don't like it at all. My dream is to see all the people free.Europe has made an example of freedom. So why other countries don't do the same. And bit by bit we could have one big planet country.!!! Many people nowadays are prisoned either by their own governments or by other governments which do not allow freedom of travel or immigration.

I know that my dream will not be fulfilled now, but I am optomistic to see that we belong to the same earth that we are living now. One day in the future, anyone would just buy a plane ticket and arrive in another place without being asked who are you? or where is your visa? I hope to see that day. Until that becomes true, let us think all together to make it a reality.

Hello everybody,
Well, I decided to begin my weblog tonight, because i am to share my thoughts and ideas with everyone who is interested in what I write. People's cultures in the world are so different and varied. So i want to express and explain my own culture and give important differences between them.Any person is unique in this world either by his or her body or character. We are influenced by our parents education and the school system. Our culture influences us and givesus directions on how to behave and how to react.Now in the west, more and more people behave the same. Here I mean clothing and life styles. Even a language begins to be as important as fashion which is English language.Many other third world countries follow the trend and began to introduce English as a second language.

So in terms of cultures and traditions, many people lost their identity and traditions.Their languages become more or less unimportant.Now if someone visits third world countries, he or she can find a variety of cultures and languages. As opposite most of the west countries try to unify their life style especially the way of life and fashion. In third world countries one could find in each town or city a different culture and may be another language. This heritage is so important to save, because it is a wealth of humanity. Well this is a brief thought, Iwill try to explain more and more to make it clear and to show more of these differences that exist between them.
